Elk River - MN Just For Kix Director Karissa Leistico is at the top of her game teaching dance classes in Elk River - MN to children, which creates confidence, dance technique, friendship and a whole lot of fun!
She’s inspiring, ambitious and bubbly! Karissa has danced with the Elk River Just for Kix program since 2000. She also danced for the Elk River Dance Team and performed at the MSHSL State Finals in 2010. Karissa graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology. During college, she coached several dance teams and worked at the Anoka-Ramsey Community College as an Exercise Specialist. After college, Karissa became a Rehabilitation Therapist, Exercise Physiologist and a master in corrective movement. She’s passionate about helping her dancers find the song in their heart and the beat in their feet while properly improving technique - all while having FUN! Karissa makes personal connections with each and every dancer that crosses her path. As your Director, she’ll use innovative ways to improve an already superb program and advance your dancer to their next level!
As an established youth dance studio, Just For Kix is a leader in dance instruction. We offer proven technical training, a focus on teamwork and a respectful experience to our students. With a strong balance of fun and technique in our classes, we create a teaching environment that is low stress and less pressure. Styles vary from location to location offering everything from: Kick • Jazz • Lyrical • Hip Hop • Ballet • Tap • Pom.
As dancers progress through our studio, they experience the health and fitness benefits of working to build cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility, along with the core attributes of confidence, pride and friendship. Hope and her family have been a part of the Elk River Just For Kix family for 19 years, 11 of which Hope has been dancing. If you’ve met Hope you’d know she slays all hip-hop choreography thrown at her but she also competes in all 5 styles of dance offered in Elk River. Her dancing doesn’t stop there. Hope is also a part of the Elk River High School Performance Dance Team. In Hope’s free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, practicing her dances, and shopping. In school, she enjoys being on the yearbook committee. Hope will graduate in 2028 and dreams of Directing her very own Just For Kix program one day!
She’s dedicated, humble and fun! Elise danced for our Elk River Just For Kix program for 14 years and participated in several Just For Kix camps in Brainerd. She was a 5-year member of the Elk River Dance Team and was also nominated captain her senior year. During her time on Dance Team she was on the choreography team and was selected to be on the Minnesota All-State Kick Team! Elise recently graduated with a major in Elementary Education and a minor of Special Education. She’s excited to bring her fresh knowledge into the studio and get back in the dancing world she’s loved from the beginning!
Hayden is a very committed dancer with 13 years of experience, 10 of which have been at Elk River Just for Kix. Her favorite style of dance is lyrical, but she is involved with all 5 programs offered at Elk River! She is in the class of 2026 at Elk River High School and she loves to involve herself in extracurricular activities outside of her schooling and dancing. One such activity is volunteering with a local tutoring program, where she helps children ages 6-11 with their reading comprehension. She also spends her Saturday’s volunteering with an animal shelter where she helps socialize dogs, occasionally takes them home to foster, and helps potential adopters find their perfect fit!
Scarlett is motivated, creative, and LOVES to have a good time! She has danced since she was just 3 years old, and 4 of those years have been with Elk River Just For Kix. She is in Hip-Hop, Kix, and Pom at the senior levels and enjoys competing in them all! I don’t think there’s a time at dance when her leg isn’t pointing towards the sky! Scarlett is in the class of 2027 at Rogers High School and is an honors student. Outside of school, she is an avid volunteer with an animal shelter and a reader to kindergartners. Scarlett hopes the girls will always learn and laugh at class and come home to tell you all about it!
