West Sioux Falls - SD Just For Kix Director Heather Summers is at the top of her game teaching dance classes in West Sioux Falls - SD to children, which creates confidence, dance technique, friendship and a whole lot of fun!
Director Heather Summers comes to Just For Kix with a wealth of knowledge from both studio and team dance training, as well as several years of experience as a competitive gymnast. Heather's dance background includes 10 years of studio training in ballet, jazz and tap, 2 years in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln dance department where her studies focused on modern and ballet as well as jazz and dance performance, 3 years on the University of South Dakota Dance Team- 2 years as team captain and choreographer, 1 year as a Sioux Falls Storm Lightning Girl Dancer and choreographer, 4 years as Just For Kix High School camp staff instructor and camp director, and 14 years as the West Sioux Falls Program Director. Heather received Director of the Year for the 22-23 dance season. This award recognizes Heather for the continued growth her program sees year after year, her dedication to the dance community, hard work ethic, and passion for dance. Heather also holds a BA in Secondary Education and an MA in Educational Leadership. Her life has been dedicated to dance and the education of children. Heather has a contagious passion for dance, and she loves sharing that passion with each of her students.
As an established youth dance studio, Just For Kix is a leader in dance instruction. We offer proven technical training, a focus on teamwork and a respectful experience to our students. With a strong balance of fun and technique in our classes, we create a teaching environment that is low stress and less pressure. Hi! My name is Anika Haugen, and I will be assisting classes this season. This will be my third year as an assistant with the West Sioux Falls Program. I have been training in dance since the age of three in a variety of styles such as jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip-hop, and kick. I was also on the Fairmont High School varsity dance team for 6 years. I will be a senior at Augustana University as an Elementary Education major this year. I am passionate about dance and love working with kids! I’m excited for what this season has in store!
Hi! I'm Willa Lengkeek, and I'm excited to be an assistant this season. This is my first year coaching, but I've been dancing at West Sioux Falls since I was just 3 years old! I have experience in jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, kick, contemporary, and pom. This past summer was my first year at dance camp in Storm Lake, Iowa, and this winter I'm going to the bowl game tour for the first time! I'm so excited for this season and can't wait to see each dancer grow in their passion for dance!
Hello! My name is Ashley Bohnet, and I am going to be an assistant coach this year. This will be my third year coaching and I’ve been dancing with Just for Kix since I was in kindergarten! I have experience in kick, lyrical, pom, jazz, and hip hop. I’ve also taken classes involving contemporary and street jazz. Two years ago I had the opportunity to go to the bowl game tour. I have also attended camp in Storm Lake, Iowa the past three years. I am so excited to be able to interact with every dancer this year and help make an impact on their dancing experience! I cannot wait for this season!
Hi! My name is Sara Stanton, and this is my fourth year coaching with West Sioux Falls. I trained 4 years with Just For Kix, training in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pom, and Kick. I was also on the Varsity Kix team while in the program, attended high school dance camps, and the Outback Bowl tour. I have attended my 2nd Bowl game with Just For Kix, but as a staff member. I currently attend the University of South Dakota, as a Business Administration major. I am excited to see all of our amazing dancers and how they continue to grow throughout the year!
Hi, my name is Sammie Axtell! When I was younger I was involved in studio dance where I learned ballet, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop! I was also on the high school competitive dance team for 4 years. In addition, I have helped teach at a studio before and been a competitive dance judge for a year. Currently, I am a full-time cosmetologist at Ambiance Salon. Dance has always had a special place in my heart and I am so excited to share my passion for it with others!
